More About the Program

International Student
A large portion of the international student population does not own private transportation. International students living on or off campus require transportation to come and go on and off campus. Many are left stranded on weekends due to limited public transportation and must walk to the local convenience or grocery stores for food and supplies since on campus facilities are unavailable.

Parking Issues
Bicycles would help reduce the amount of automobile traffic on campus as well as enabling students to park further away from the campus and ride the bicycles to and from campus.

"GO GREEN"
The university has the opportunity to become an example for future university bicycle programs in the country and will be looked as a reference for environmentally green friendly programs.

CBBIC & Rugged Cycles collaboration
Rugged Cycles is a resident company of the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (CBBIC). This joint CBBIC/Rugged cycles proposal will benefit all parties involved, students, TAMUCC and Rugged Cycles. Students who do not own a car will have an inexpensive mode of transportation available for them. The bicycles are maintenance free which will provide students with a worry free mode of transportation. Students will be able to contact the CBBIC if the bicycle does not operate properly and will receive a replacement.

Testing the Program
Rugged Cycles is testing a university bicycle program on the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi campus. The university has the opportunity to become an example for future university bicycle programs in the country and will be looked as a reference for environmentally friendly programs. This program will be used as a pilot for the company to present to future prospect universities. The program will be designed to be highly duplicable and adaptable to different types of universities and campuses.
