About Us
This website is developed and maintained by the EDA University Center at the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (CBBIC). The establishment of the EDA University Center is funded in part by a U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant in 2010. The CBBIC is housed in the College of Business at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Programs at the EDA University Center are conducted in corroboration with community stakeholders in the Coastal Bend region, including city and county governments, workforce agencies and civic organizations that are actively involved with local economic development.
In 2010, the Bold Future for the Coastal Bend adopted an action plan (VEC 1.2) under the Strategy for a Growing, Thriving and Diverse Economy. The action plan called for the development of a center to "centralize, analyze, and publicize economic information" that is vital to fostering economic development and growth in the regional economy of the Coastal Bend. The EDA University Center was established to partially fulfill the mission of Bold Future, particularly its vision for a Vibrant Economy.
This website serves as the EDA University Center's gateway to research programs associated with economic development in the Coastal Bend region. Our work includes periodic updates on local economic and business data, archives of historical data, and analytical publications relating to economic conditions and development, such as industry clusters and regional profiles.
